Violations & Fines
Violating Chapter 9.21 is an infraction: a fine not to exceed $100.00 for a first offense, $200.00 for a second offense within one year, and up to $500.00 for a third or subsequent offense within one year, under § 9.21.070. Three or more convictions of the same provision within a year escalates the charge to a misdemeanor, punishable by up to $1,000.00 and six months in County Jail. Each hour a violation continues is a separate offense, though a second citation waits ten days unless the violation threatens public health or safety. The Yuba County Sheriff, California Highway Patrol and Community Development and Services Agency staff enforce Chapter 9.21 and may issue citations (§ 9.21.080).
