The City of Spartanburg prohibits parking or storing a commercial vehicle on any street or residential lot in a residential district at any hour. Commercial vehicles include tractor-trailers, tractors, passenger vehicles for 16-plus, hazmat trucks, and marked six-plus-tire vehicles. School buses are exempt.
City Code § 40-75(a) bans parking or storing a commercial vehicle on any street, road, right-of-way, or residential lot in a residential district, day or night. A commercial vehicle is defined as a tractor-trailer; a cab or tractor without a trailer; a vehicle transporting 16 or more passengers; a hazardous-materials vehicle; or one with more than six tires bearing business advertising. Private and public school buses are exempt. Moving or delivery vans being loaded may stay up to 48 hours without a permit; construction trailers need a permit from the city building official.
Parking a commercial vehicle in a residential district is a misdemeanor; the city may ticket and tow the vehicle, with the registered owner liable.
