In Fayetteville residential districts, parking heavy trucks, commercial vehicles or similar vehicles exceeding a 13,000-pound gross vehicle weight rating is prohibited in front and corner side yards; only personal vehicles at or under 13,000 pounds may park there.
Fayetteville's UDO separates everyday vehicles from work vehicles. Under the residential parking standards (30-5.A.5.C) and the accessory-use standards (30-4.D.3.t), no heavy truck or multi-axle trailer may be parked or stored in any front yard, corner side yard, or any spot closer to the street right-of-way than the principal structure in a residential or mixed-use district. Vehicles for personal transport with a gross vehicle weight rating of 13,000 pounds or less may park within the vehicular use area of front or corner side yards. Approval to store multi-axle trailers may be sought through the Neighborhood Compatibility Permit process.
Code Enforcement handles violations; unlawfully stored commercial vehicles must be relocated, and continued noncompliance can lead to citations.
