Prince George's County, MD Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Prince George's County Code Subtitle 26 targets oversized and heavy vehicles in residential areas. Section 26-101 defines a heavy commercial truck as one with a gross weight over 10,000 pounds. Section 26-123 prohibits parking heavy commercial trucks, commercial buses, and trailers on County streets between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. outside municipal limits, with escalating fines of $500 to $1,000. Section 26-127.04(e) adds that where a commercial or industrial business sits across from or adjacent to a residential home or development, no heavy commercial truck may park less than 75 feet (25 yards) from the closest residential property line. Maryland Transportation Code 21-1010 further bars commercial vehicles from residential zones. Municipalities may set additional size or weight limits.
