Honolulu prohibits buses, trucks, vans, trailers, and other commercial vehicles with a gross weight of 10,000 pounds or more, or longer than 20 feet, from being stored or parked on any public street citywide without a permit or exception.
ROH Β§ 15-16.6 (Storage parking of commercial vehicles prohibited β no signs required) bans storage parking of any bus, truck, trailer, van, or other vehicle used for commercial purposes whose gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is 10,000 pounds or more, or whose length bumper-to-bumper is 20 feet or more, on any public street in the City and County of Honolulu. The prohibition applies citywide and does not require posted signs to be enforceable. The Honolulu Police Department and Department of Transportation Services enforce the section. Bill 48 (2018) updated the weight and length thresholds.
Violation is a parking infraction. Under ROH Β§ 15-26.10, illegal parking carries a minimum fine; commercial vehicle storage violations are typically cited at $100 or more per occurrence and vehicles may be towed.
