Sutter County, CA Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Use and parking of commercial vehicles in unincorporated Sutter County are governed by Chapter 1137 (Use Restrictions on Commercial Vehicles) of the Traffic Code. Section 1137-012 designates the Unincorporated Residential Area as portions of a residence district bounded by named roads (including areas around Bogue Road, Township Road, Pease Road, Butte House Road, Howlett Avenue, Markley Road, Barry Road, and Highway 99). Within that area, Section 1137-020 prohibits driving, operating, or towing a commercial vehicle with a gross weight exceeding 14,000 pounds on any County road not designated a Truck Route, citing California Vehicle Code Sections 35701 and 35712.

5, prohibits parking a commercial vehicle with a gross vehicle weight rating over 10,000 pounds, or a combined tractor-trailer gross weight over 10,000 pounds, on any County road in the Unincorporated Residential Area. Section 1137-060 exempts public-utility, emergency, ambulance/hearse, agricultural, and direct pickup-or-delivery operations. Penalties under Section 1137-120 are 100 dollars for a first violation and 200 dollars for a second within 12 months; a third or later violation within 24 months is a misdemeanor punishable by 300 to 500 dollars and/or up to six months in county jail.
