No motor home, house trailer, or commercial vehicle rated 10,000 pounds GVWR or more may be parked on a subdivision street in the A1–A4 residential districts for 72 hours or more. The UDC also bars heavier multi-axle trucks from residential drives and front yards.
The City-Parish Traffic Code (§ 11:425) restricts heavy commercial-vehicle parking on residential subdivision streets: any commercial vehicle with a GVWR of 10,000 pounds or more (as well as motor homes and house trailers) is barred from parking 72 hours or more on streets in the A1, A2, A2.5, A3 and A4 districts. Separately, the Unified Development Code (17.5.1B) prohibits wreckers, buses, trucks and semitrailers with more than two axles and payload over 3,500 pounds from parking on the drive, in the front yard, or adjacent to any lot in those same residential districts. Together these keep box trucks, semis and heavy work vehicles out of residential yards and off subdivision streets for extended periods.
Enforced by police/Parking Control and the Department of Development; violating vehicles may be ticketed or towed under Title 11 and the UDC.
