Prince William County prohibits parking or leaving commercial vehicles on public highways in residence districts. Heavy commercial vehicles (10,100+ lbs) also cannot be stored on residential lots. Exceptions cover active loading/service work.
PWC Code 13-327 makes it unlawful to park or leave unattended any commercial vehicle on any public highway in a residence district (as defined in VA Code 46.2-100). The ordinance defines commercial vehicles to include solid-waste collection trucks, tractor-truck and semitrailer combinations, dump trucks, concrete mixers, tow trucks of 12,000+ lbs registered gross weight, heavy construction equipment, and food/beverage vending vehicles. Exceptions apply while loading/unloading passengers, temporarily parked to perform work at a location, or utility generators powering network facilities during an outage. The County's zoning rules separately bar storing commercial vehicles over 10,100 lbs on residential properties.
Violations are enforced under Chapter 13; commercial vehicles parked illegally in residence districts may be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.
