El Paso County Land Development Code limits the storage of commercial vehicles and equipment on residential-zoned properties in unincorporated areas to prevent residential blight.
In residential zones under the El Paso County Land Development Code, storage of commercial vehicles, heavy equipment, or large trucks may be limited or prohibited. Residential lots are not intended as truck depots or equipment yards. Commercial vehicles parked regularly on residential properties can be subject to code enforcement complaints, particularly if they are inoperable, create visual blight, or constitute a commercial use in a residential zone. Agricultural and commercial/industrial zones have more permissive rules for vehicle storage. County code enforcement investigates complaints.
Storing commercial vehicles or equipment in a prohibited zone: code enforcement citation and order to remove.
