Tyler prohibits overnight parking of commercial vehicles over 22 feet long, 7.5 feet tall, or 8,000 pounds in residential districts β on streets, driveways, or any improved surface. Loading and short daytime stops are exempt.
City Code Sec. 10-364, adopted in 2017, bars commercial vehicles larger than 22 feet long, 7.5 feet high, or over four tons (8,000 pounds) from parking overnight in any residential district β whether on a public street, a private driveway, or another improved surface. Exceptions cover vehicles actively loading, unloading, or providing a service; vehicles tied to a nearby non-residential use such as a church or office; and vehicles parked off-street on the driver's own property on weekdays between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Properly licensed vehicles adapted for disabled occupants may exceed the height limit.
Parking a prohibited commercial vehicle overnight in a residential area draws citations and escalating fines for repeat offenses. HOA rules may add penalties on top of the city ordinance.
