Tyler sets no limits on holiday decorations at single-family homes. In multi-family and nonresidential districts, decorations may go up at most 14 days before a federal holiday, must come down right after, and never exceed 45 consecutive days.
Tyler City Code Sec. 10-416 regulates holiday decorations in multi-family and nonresidential districts: they may be displayed no more than 14 days before a federally recognized holiday and must be removed immediately after, with a possible 15-day extension by temporary sign permit and a hard cap of 45 consecutive days. Decorations must be specific to the holiday celebrated and non-commercial in nature, and displays on collector or arterial roadways must not flash, blink, or move so as to distract motorists. Single-family homes are not subject to these seasonal limits; HOA rules may add their own restrictions.
In multi-family and nonresidential districts, holiday decorations left up past the deadline or displayed more than 45 days may be cited by Code Enforcement, and distracting flashing displays on major roadways must be corrected.
