Tyler, TX Landscaping Rules: Water Restrictions (2026)

The City of Tyler's recommended watering schedule limits outdoor irrigation to two days per week, before 10 a.m. or after 6 p.m., to protect water pressure and reduce evaporation. Days are set by the last digit of the address: even numbers water Sundays and Thursdays, odd numbers water Saturdays and Wednesdays. This schedule is voluntary in normal conditions but becomes enforceable under the city's Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan, which the TCEQ requires be reviewed every five years. Stage 2 adds mandatory time-of-day watering limits and restricts vehicle washing and pool filling to set hours; it can be triggered by drought or treatment-plant failures. Hand watering and drip systems are allowed anytime.
