Prince William County, VA Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

Under VA Code 15.2-905, which expressly names Prince William County, the County may prohibit keeping an inoperable motor vehicle on residential property except within a fully enclosed building or otherwise shielded or screened from view. The County enforces this: per PWC Neighborhood Services, a vehicle without current tags or a current inspection sticker is 'inoperative,' and inoperative vehicles cannot be parked outside a garage and cannot be housed in a carport. Storage and the maximum number of inoperable vehicles must conform to zoning (Ch. 32). Properly tagged antique vehicles are exempt. Regular operable, registered cars may park on paved driveways subject to zoning and HOA rules.
