Prince George's County Code Section 26-127.05 reserves signed electric-vehicle charging spaces on public and private property for vehicles actively connected for charging. Parking in a marked EV charging space without charging carries a $100 fine.
Prince George's County Code Subtitle 26, Section 26-127.05 (adopted by CB-052-2022) prohibits standing or parking a vehicle in any stall or parking space on public or private property designated for charging an electric vehicle, where proper signs conforming to the Maryland Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices are posted, unless the vehicle is connected for electric charging purposes. In other words, only EVs actively plugged in may occupy a signed charging space; non-charging vehicles, including EVs not connected, are in violation. Each violation carries a $100 fine. This countywide rule supplements any municipal or private-facility EV parking policies within Prince George's County.
A $100 fine applies to any vehicle parked in a designated, signed EV charging space that is not connected for charging. Enforcement follows the signage requirements of the Maryland MUTCD.
