Loading and unloading are exceptions to Prince William County's parking limits. Commercial vehicles may stop in residence districts while actively performing work or service, and hitched trailers get up to 72 hours in restricted zones for loading.
Prince William County does not maintain a broad network of dedicated commercial loading zones the way large cities do; instead, loading is handled through exceptions in its parking ordinances. Under PWC Code 13-327, the ban on commercial vehicles in residence districts does not apply to a commercial vehicle while taking on or discharging passengers, or when temporarily parked to perform work or service at a particular location. In restricted recreational-vehicle zones (13-320.1), a trailer connected to its tow vehicle may remain up to 72 hours for loading, unloading, and maintenance. Curbside stopping generally follows Chapter 13, Article X and state traffic law.
Vehicles that overstay loading exceptions or block travel lanes may be ticketed or towed under Chapter 13, Article X.
