Full Breakdown

City Code § 40-74 makes it unlawful to park any vehicle in an area designated and marked as a loading zone between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on any day except Sundays. The restriction reserves curb space for active deliveries during business hours; on Sundays and after 6:00 p.m. the zone is not enforced as a loading zone. Related city rules bar parking that leaves less than ten feet of roadway (§ 40-69) and prohibit standing a vehicle to display it for sale or to wash or repair it (§ 40-71).

Violations & Fines

Parking in a loading zone during restricted hours is a misdemeanor subject to a city parking fine; the vehicle may also be ticketed and towed if it obstructs traffic.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I park in a Spartanburg loading zone?
Only outside the restricted hours: before 7:00 a.m., after 6:00 p.m., or on Sundays. During 7 a.m.–6 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays it is unlawful (§ 40-74).
Is the loading zone enforced on Sundays?
No. City Code § 40-74 exempts Sundays, so the 7 a.m.–6 p.m. loading-zone parking prohibition does not apply that day.
