Davie, FL Parking Rules: Oversized Vehicle Parking (2026)

The Town of Davie regulates oversized vehicles - including RVs, large trailers, buses, semitrailers, and heavy commercial equipment - through two main provisions of its Code of Ordinances. For recreational oversized vehicles, Town Code Section 24-43.1 (Restrictions on vehicle parking) provides that utility trailers, boats, and RVs shall not be parked or stored within a driveway, front yard, sidewalk, or swale area and must be relocated to the side or rear yard; in residential districts other than RR, A-1, AG, and R-1, registered non-commercial trailers must additionally be kept in a carport or garage or screened from public view in the side or rear yard (Section 12-33(G)). For oversized commercial vehicles, Section 12-33(G) prohibits commercial vehicles and construction equipment from being parked, stored, or maintained within a residentially zoned district, whether on private property, swale areas, or public or private road rights-of-way. The Town describes vehicles using Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) classes, which the Code references as Classes 1 through 8 (from under 6,000 pounds up to over 33,000 pounds), so heavy buses, refuse trucks, semitrailers, and tractor-trailers fall squarely within the commercial-vehicle prohibition. The combined effect is that large recreational vehicles must be stored discreetly to the side or rear of a residential lot, while oversized commercial vehicles and construction equipment are not permitted in residential districts at all.
