Siskiyou County publishes no county-wide ordinance restricting where residents may store an RV, boat or trailer on their own rural property. On unincorporated County roads, RVs, boats and trailers are governed by the California Vehicle Code, and the County's snow-removal rule bars leaving them in the roadway during plowing.
Siskiyou County does not publish a stand-alone county-wide parking ordinance limiting where a resident may keep a recreational vehicle, boat or utility trailer on private rural land; such uses are addressed through Title 10 (Planning and Zoning) and nuisance/junk-vehicle review on a case-by-case basis by the Planning Division of Community Development. On a County road or its right-of-way, parking is controlled by the California Vehicle Code. CVC Section 22500 prohibits stopping or parking in front of a public or private driveway, on a sidewalk, in a crosswalk, within an intersection, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, or in any posted no-parking area, and this applies equally to RVs, boats and trailers. Critically for this far-northern snow county, Siskiyou County Ordinance No. 770 prohibits parking in the roadway during snow-removal operations, and the County Public Works snow policy states snow 'usually is plowed to the right' creating berms on both sides. Residents in snow communities such as Mount Shasta-area unincorporated zones, McCloud and Lake Shastina should keep RVs, boats and trailers off the road and out of the right-of-way so plows can pass.
An RV, boat or trailer left in the County road right-of-way during snow removal may be removed and stored at the owner's expense under Siskiyou County Code Section 3-4.606 (Ordinance No. 770). On roads, CVC Section 22500 parking violations and CVC Section 22669 abandoned-vehicle removal apply.
