In unincorporated Marin County, it is unlawful to park a vehicle on any street or highway for more than 72 consecutive hours; signed roads carry additional posted restrictions enforced by the County.
Marin County Code section 15.36.030 prohibits parking a vehicle on any street or highway within the unincorporated area of the county for a period in excess of 72 consecutive hours. This implements California Vehicle Code section 22651(k), which authorizes removal of vehicles parked on a public street for 72 or more consecutive hours. Section 15.36.060 also allows the Board of Supervisors to designate specific County roads or locations where no parking is allowed at any time, but those restrictions cannot be enforced until adequate signage has been installed. Title 15 parking infractions are punishable by a fine established by Board of Supervisors resolution (MCC 15.60.010).
Vehicles exceeding the 72-hour limit may be cited and towed under California Vehicle Code 22651(k). General Title 15 parking violations are infractions punishable by a fine set by Board of Supervisors resolution; violations of signed no-parking zones under 15.36.100 carry a $100 fine per the ordinance text.
