Smyrna requires you to leave at least 14 feet of roadway clear for traffic and bans parking within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, in front of driveways, in intersections and in crosswalks. Murfreesboro streets follow similar traffic rules.
Smyrna's Title 15 governs on-street parking town-wide. A vehicle must be parked parallel and within 18 inches of the curb, and cannot leave less than 14 feet of roadway open for the free movement of traffic. Section 15-604 additionally prohibits parking on a sidewalk, in front of a public or private driveway, within an intersection, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within a crosswalk, and within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection. Murfreesboro's traffic code (Chapter 32) applies comparable no-parking rules on city streets. Unincorporated county roads are governed by Tennessee traffic law rather than a county parking ordinance.
Illegal-parking citation; unoccupied vehicles carry a prima facie presumption the registered owner is responsible (Sec. 15-621). Penalty under Sec. 15-625, each day a separate offense.
