In Smyrna a marked loading and unloading zone may be used only for the expeditious loading or unloading of passengers or merchandise, and for no other purpose or period of time. Parking in alleys is limited to loading while leaving 10 feet of roadway clear.
Smyrna Section 15-614 provides that no person may park a vehicle in a place marked by the town as a loading and unloading zone for any purpose or period other than the expeditious loading or unloading of passengers or merchandise. Section 15-607 permits parking in an alley only for loading and unloading merchandise, and then only if at least ten feet of roadway width remains open for traffic and no driveway entrance is blocked. Tractor trailers actively loading or unloading are excepted from the residential storage ban for up to 24 hours. Murfreesboro designates and enforces its own downtown and commercial loading zones.
