Full Breakdown
Code § 32-1404 limits stopping in a marked loading zone to expeditious freight loading, unloading, pickup, or delivery during posted hours; a stop can't exceed 30 minutes, and a vehicle can't sit unattended more than 10 minutes. Only commercial vehicles, as defined in § 32-107, may use a loading zone during those hours. A separate passenger loading zone (§ 32-1403) caps stops at just 3 minutes for dropping off or picking up passengers. The Engineering Department designates zones and posts hours; permits for angled curb loading are issued under § 32-1400, and violations are enforced the same as other parking citations.
Violations & Fines
Exceeding the time limit or leaving a vehicle unattended too long draws a parking citation under Code § 32-2111; repeated violations can lead to towing and impoundment under Article XVII.
