The permit process involves submitting plans through the ePermit portal or in-person, plan review by the Building and Zoning department, permit issuance, inspections during construction, and final inspection. Licensed contractors are required for electrical, plumbing, and structural work. The department offers online services for many permit types through the ePermit portal.
Work without a permit requires an after-the-fact application, may incur double permit fees, and may require opening walls for inspection. Stop-work orders can be issued for active unpermitted work.
