Arizona is a one-party consent state under ARS Β§13-3005. You may record any conversation you are a party to without the other party's knowledge. Recording conversations between others without any party's consent is a Class 5 felony. Video recording in public is generally unrestricted.
Arizona Revised Statutes Β§13-3005 makes it a crime to intercept wire or electronic communications without the consent of at least one party. As a one-party consent state, Arizona allows you to record phone calls and in-person conversations that you participate in, without informing the other party. Recording a conversation between others to which you are not a party is a Class 5 felony. The law provides exceptions for law enforcement with court orders. Video recording in public spaces where there is no expectation of privacy is legal without restrictions. Arizona also has a separate statute (ARS Β§13-3019) addressing computer tampering and unauthorized access to electronic communications. In the workplace, Arizona law permits employers to monitor communications on company-owned devices with proper notice. Body cameras and dashcams are legal. Arizona does not have a comprehensive consumer privacy law comparable to California's CCPA, though some data protections exist under ARS Β§18-552 (data breach notification).
Unlawful interception of communications: Class 5 felony (6 months to 2.5 years prison). Civil damages also available under Arizona law.
