Fayetteville's Code Compliance program enforces nuisance standards on overgrowth, junk, debris, inoperable vehicles, and dangerous structures. Grass over 8 inches on an occupied lot is deemed overgrown.
Fayetteville Code Compliance addresses conditions that create blight. Grass or weeds 8 inches or taller on an occupied lot (18 inches on a vacant lot) are overgrown. Junk means items whose primary purpose is not outdoor use, debris covers tree limbs and branches, and vehicles that cannot be driven are inoperable and regulated under City Code 164.14. Curbside items outside collection fall under unsightly and unsanitary conditions in City Code 95.01, and dilapidated or unsafe structures under City Code 173.08 may be cleaned, secured, or razed at the owner's expense. Enforcement follows an inspection with photos, a door hanger, and a Notice of Violation by certified mail before the city abates and bills the owner.
Notice of Violation by certified mail with a compliance deadline. If uncorrected, Code Compliance abates the condition and bills the owner, and unpaid costs can be liened. Contact 479-575-8237.
