Little Elm requires trash and recycling carts stored out of public view except on collection days. Bins go out no earlier than 6 PM the night before and must be retrieved by midnight.
Under the Little Elm Code of Ordinances Chapter 50 (Solid Waste), residential trash and recycling carts must be stored behind the front building line or screened from public view when not set out for collection. Containers may be placed at the curb no earlier than 6:00 PM the evening before the scheduled pickup day and must be returned to a screened location by midnight on collection day. Carts must be placed at the curb with handles facing the house and lids closed, spaced at least three feet apart and three feet from mailboxes, vehicles, or other obstructions. In HOA-governed communities such as Paloma Creek and Union Park, additional architectural guidelines may impose stricter screening requirements including enclosed trash enclosures or garage storage mandates. Code enforcement officers can issue citations for bins left out beyond the allowed window.
Fine up to $500 per offense. Repeat violations may result in daily fines until containers are properly stored.
