Quiet hours in Little Elm, TX β also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time β define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
Little Elm enforces noise restrictions under Chapter 70, Article III of the Town Code. Sound devices including radios, TVs, and musical instruments are prohibited after 10 PM Sunday through Thursday and after 11 PM Friday and Saturday. Morning quiet extends until 8 AM following any night. Violations are a misdemeanor punishable by fines up to $500 per day.
Little Elm regulates noise through Sec. 70-55, which prohibits unreasonably loud or disturbing noise offensive to the ordinary sensibilities of a neighboring person. Sound-producing devices in residential districts or quiet zones, or within 500 feet of a residence, must not operate after 10 PM on work nights (Sunday through Thursday) or after 11 PM on Friday and Saturday nights, and not before 8 AM the following morning. The town manager may authorize variances for special events extending to midnight. Vehicle sound systems audible beyond 50 feet or producing vibrations detectable at 25 feet also violate the ordinance when done in a manner that unreasonably disturbs neighbors. Quiet zones are defined under Sec. 70-54 as properties with schools, hospitals, clinics, libraries, or other noise-sensitive facilities. Exemptions under Sec. 70-56 cover emergency vehicles, public service operations, natural phenomena, and town-sponsored park or school activities with noise privileges expiring at midnight unless extended by the town manager. Each day of violation constitutes a separate offense.
