Texas Transportation Code Section 545.307 prohibits parking a commercial motor vehicle or a vehicle with a manufacturers rated capacity exceeding one ton on a residential street in a subdivision between 10 PM and 6 AM if the subdivision has posted signs prohibiting commercial vehicle parking. Little Elm Chapter 98 Traffic and Vehicles implements and enforces these restrictions locally. Many of Little Elms newer subdivisions have posted commercial vehicle restriction signs. Commercial vehicles include box trucks, semi-tractors, trailers, dump trucks, and vehicles with commercial lettering or equipment racks exceeding certain size thresholds. Passenger pickup trucks used for personal transportation are generally exempt even if they have commercial lettering. Residents who drive commercial vehicles for work must find off-site parking during restricted hours or park in enclosed garages where available. HOAs in Little Elm frequently add additional restrictions on commercial vehicle visibility.
Violation of posted subdivision restriction: Class C misdemeanor under TX Transportation Code, fine up to $500. Local code enforcement citation possible.
