The Denton Development Code restricts commercial vehicle parking in residential zoning districts. Vehicles exceeding 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rating may not be stored or parked on residential property. One light commercial vehicle (pickup, van, or service truck under 10,000 lbs GVWR) per household may be parked on the property behind the front building line on an improved surface. Semi-trailers, tractor-trailers, heavy construction equipment, and vehicles with external commercial advertising visible from the street are prohibited from overnight storage in residential zones. Temporary parking for active service calls (plumbers, electricians) is generally allowed during business hours. Home-based businesses with commercial vehicles must comply with the home occupation permit standards in DDC Article 4, which further limits commercial activity visible from the street.
