Denton DDC Sec. 7.12 requires RVs and boats stored behind the front building line on paved surfaces. Occupancy prohibited. 72-hr temp driveway use.
The Denton Development Code Section 7.12 regulates storage of recreational vehicles, boats, travel trailers, and similar equipment in residential zoning districts. Vehicles and watercraft must be stored behind the front building line, meaning they cannot be parked in front yards or driveways forward of the house facade. Storage on unpaved surfaces such as grass or dirt is prohibited; vehicles must rest on concrete, asphalt, or approved gravel pads. No person may occupy or use a stored RV as a dwelling unit. RVs and boats must be currently registered and in operable condition; unregistered or inoperable units are subject to code enforcement as abandoned vehicles. Temporary parking of an RV in a driveway for loading/unloading is allowed for up to 72 hours. The code does not set a specific length limit but oversized vehicles blocking public sidewalks or right-of-way are subject to citation.
Code compliance warning with 10-day cure period. Fine up to $500 per day after notice. Repeat violations: up to $2,000.
