Weber County, UT Public Conduct: Public Alcohol Use (2026)

Weber County regulates public alcohol consumption in two places in its code. Chapter 8-3's general beer regulations state that 'it shall be unlawful for any person to possess or consume any alcoholic beverages or beer or container therefor while upon the premises of any county park, except upon the express written approval of the board of county commissioners' (Section 8-3-1). That county-parks ban applies wherever the county operates a park.

Around the Pineview and Causey Reservoir recreation areas, Chapter 26-3 imposes a broader area-wide ban. Section 26-3-11, Alcoholic Beverages, provides that 'alcoholic beverages and the drinking of alcoholic beverages are prohibited in all areas around Pineview and Causey Reservoirs except in designated overnight camping areas and marinas.' 'Alcoholic beverage' is defined in Section 26-3-2 by reference to the Utah Alcoholic Beverage Control Act, U.C.A. § 32B-1-102, covering both beer and liquor. The reservoir chapter also bans glass on beach areas (Section 26-3-7), restricts open fires to Forest Service fire rings (Section 26-3-8), closes posted day-use areas between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. (Section 26-3-9), and sets quiet hours over the same overnight window (Section 26-3-4), so the alcohol ban sits inside a wider set of overnight and beach-conduct rules for the reservoir.

Enforcement differs by location: a Chapter 26-3 violation, including the reservoir alcohol ban, is a class C misdemeanor under Section 26-3-12, while a county-parks alcohol violation under Chapter 8-3 falls under the general Title 8 beer-title penalty structure.
