Coweta County, GA Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

Coweta County's parks and recreation code, § 46-32, lists prohibited items and activities that apply on or about parks and recreation facilities, athletic fields or any surrounding areas being property of the county. Item (9) addresses skateboards directly: bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and other non-motorized recreational vehicles are only allowed in designated areas denoted by signage. Riding a skateboard on a ball field, a walking path outside the marked zone, a playground, or a parking lot therefore falls outside the permitted use, alongside the section's other bans on alcohol, littering, fireworks and other explosives, glass containers, smoking and tobacco products, profanity, and fighting or physical or verbal abuse.

Item (10) separately bars motorized recreational vehicles, including motorized skateboards, from parks entirely unless the parks and recreation director approves them. Violating any § 46-32 item, including the skateboard placement rule, also triggers § 46-34's zero-tolerance policy: parks and recreation staff, association board members, or designated volunteers who witness the violation can ban the rider from that facility and activity for a period set by the parks and recreation director, on top of any court penalty. Because the rule reaches any surrounding areas being property of the county, the designated-area limit follows a facility's whole footprint, not just the athletic fields themselves, so a skate ramp or plaza has to be signed as a designated area before riders can lawfully use it there.
