Mercer County, NJ Public Conduct: Skateboarding Rules (2026)

The Mercer County Park Commission's Restricted Uses and Areas rule groups skateboards with hand sleds, bobs, skis and carts under the single category of other vehicles on wheels or runners. The Commission does not name skateboarding specifically, but the rule's plain language covers any wheeled coasting device, and it bans that activity across every county park and recreation area except in a spot the Commission has designated and posted for coasting. The same section separately bars throwing, kicking or striking a baseball, golf ball, football or basketball outside posted areas, showing the Commission's consistent approach: active, board- or ball-based recreation is channeled into marked zones rather than left to the whole park.

A rider who wants to use a skateboard, scooter or similar wheeled device inside a Mercer County park should look for posted signage identifying an approved coasting area before starting; absent that signage, roads, parking lots, trails, picnic groves and open lawns are off-limits for the activity.
