STRO hosts must comply with San Diego's general noise ordinance (SDMC 59.5.0401) and the STRO Good Neighbor Policy. Guests must observe quiet hours (10 PM-7 AM). Hosts are responsible for informing guests of noise rules and may face license revocation for repeated noise complaints.
The STRO Good Neighbor Policy requires hosts to provide guests with written notice of the city's noise regulations, including quiet hours from 10 PM to 7 AM (8 AM weekends). The same residential decibel limits apply: 50 dBA daytime, 45 dBA evening, 40 dBA nighttime. Hosts must include emergency contact information in the listing and post it in the unit. Excessive noise complaints against an STRO property may trigger review of the license. The City Treasurer's Office tracks complaints by license number. Three or more verified violations within a 12-month period may result in license suspension or revocation. Neighbors may report noise violations to the SDPD non-emergency line or Code Enforcement.
Noise violations subject to standard fines under the noise ordinance. Repeated complaints may trigger STRO license review, suspension, or revocation by the City Treasurer.
