STRO hosts must provide guests information about available parking. No dedicated off-street parking requirement for STRs beyond standard residential requirements. Guests must follow citywide 72-hour street parking limits and posted restrictions including permit parking zones.
San Diego does not impose a separate off-street parking requirement specific to short-term rentals beyond the underlying zoning requirements for the dwelling unit. The STRO Good Neighbor Policy requires hosts to inform guests about available parking options and any neighborhood parking restrictions. Guests are subject to standard citywide parking rules: no vehicle may be parked in the same location for more than 72 continuous hours on public streets. Many neighborhoods have Residential Parking Permit zones where non-resident vehicles are restricted to 1-2 hour parking. Oversized or recreational vehicles brought by guests are subject to the same overnight restrictions as all vehicles (prohibited 2-6 AM on public streets per SDMC 86.0139). Hosts should clearly communicate parking instructions to avoid neighbor complaints.
Standard parking citations for violations. Parking complaints may contribute to STRO license review. No separate STR parking penalties exist.
