Escondido requires STR guests to use only on-site parking spaces associated with the approved rental unit. No additional on-street parking for guests. Maximum occupancy of two guests per bedroom plus two additional.
Under EMC Chapter 16, Article 8, STR guests must use only the on-site parking spaces associated with the approved short-term rental unit. Hosts must identify the number of available on-site parking spaces during the permit application process. Guest vehicles may not occupy on-street parking as a substitute for on-site spaces. The STR ordinance also sets occupancy limits at two guests per bedroom plus two additional (e.g., a three-bedroom rental allows a maximum of eight guests). The combination of occupancy and parking restrictions aims to minimize neighborhood impacts in Escondido's residential areas. Hosts are responsible for communicating parking rules to guests.
Parking violations may count toward the STR violation escalation ($1,000, $3,000, $5,000). Report issues to Code Compliance.
