Under Riverside County Ordinance No. 927, Section 8(i), a Responsible Operator must provide adequate on-site parking to accommodate the maximum number of occupants approved on the Short Term Rental Certificate, calculated as one on-site space for every four occupants allowed. The findings of the ordinance specifically cite illegal vehicle parking and the lack of shoulder parking on the narrow, steep roads of Idyllwild as reasons for these requirements. Blocked driveways and blocked streets are listed as health-and-safety complaints that can be escalated directly to the 24-hour Code Enforcement line.
Parking violations are enumerated under Section 14 and attributable to both guests and operators. Inadequate on-site parking can prevent certificate issuance or renewal at inspection. Blocking driveways or streets may be reported to the 24-hour Code Enforcement Department, and citations escalate from $1,500 to $3,000 to $5,000.
