Guests in unincorporated Lane County pay a 10% Lane County Transient Room Tax on stays of 30 nights or fewer, plus Oregon's state transient lodging tax of 1.5% under ORS 320.305. Combined, short-term stays carry an 11.5% lodging tax.
Two lodging taxes stack on short-term rentals in unincorporated Lane County. The Lane County Transient Room Tax is 10% of the listing price, including any cleaning fee, for reservations of 30 nights and shorter, and applies outside the cities of Eugene, Springfield, Florence and Cottage Grove (which levy their own local taxes). On top of that, the State of Oregon imposes a transient lodging tax of 1.5% under ORS 320.305. Since October 1, 2022 the Oregon Department of Revenue collects both, filed together on the quarterly state lodging-tax return.
Failure to collect or remit the transient room tax results in Department of Revenue assessment of the unpaid tax, plus statutory penalty and interest.
