Full Breakdown

Chapter 485, Part 2 (Roadside and Utility Pole Signs), adopted 2001 and amended in 2010, treats yard and garage sale signs as a category of regulated temporary sign. A sign may not be posted without listing the sale's address and date, may not go up on a utility pole or streetlight standard more than three days before the sale, and must come down within 24 hours after it closes. Signs may not be nailed or glued to poles, attached to trees, posted on City property, or block sidewalks; the sponsor must register with the Codes Office.

Violations & Fines

Unpermitted signs may be removed by Public Works; a violation is a summary offense carrying a $10 fine per sign for the first violation and $5 per sign for each additional day, under § 485-213.
