Full Breakdown
Under DeKalb County Code, Appendix B, Sec. 702, it is unlawful for anyone within the county's territorial limits to place political posters, signs or advertisements in the right-of-way of any public street, on public property or a public building, or on private property without the owner's written permission. This is an older local act (Acts 1968, p. 2972, § 1; readopted by Ord. No. 08-02, Jan. 8, 2008) and its text applies countywide rather than only to the unincorporated area, unlike the county's zoning-based sign rules.
Violations & Fines
Violating Sec. 702 is a misdemeanor under the companion penalty provision, Sec. 704, punishable as any other misdemeanor offense under DeKalb County's general penalty scheme.
