In unincorporated Seminole County, campaign signs are allowed after a candidate qualifies, but never in the public right-of-way or on public property. Limits are 32 sq ft on commercial property and 16 sq ft on residential, and signs must come down within 7 days after the campaign.
Seminole County's sign standards (Land Development Code Chapter 30, Sec. 30.13.3 and Sec. 30.13.7) allow political campaign signs once the candidate qualifies for an election. Signs are prohibited in the right-of-way (ROW) or on public property, and property-owner permission is required before placing any sign. Residential signs may not exceed 16 square feet; commercial-property signs may not exceed 32 square feet. No building permit is needed below the 32/16-square-foot thresholds, but signs larger than 32 square feet require a building permit. Signs must be removed within 7 days after the campaign or once the candidate is no longer viable. Each incorporated city (Sanford, Oviedo, Winter Springs, etc.) sets its own limits.
Signs in the ROW or on public property, or left up past the 7-day removal deadline, may be removed and are subject to Seminole County Code Enforcement.
