Clackamas County, OR Sign Regulations: Political Signs (2026)

Oregon election law does not set political-sign size or placement; the county elections office states 'the size and placement of political signs are not regulated by election law' and directs residents to the jurisdiction where the sign sits. In the unincorporated county, signs are governed content-neutrally by ZDO Section 1010. A sign of three square feet or less requires no sign permit, and any temporary sign (which includes campaign signs) may not be displayed for a total time period exceeding 60 days in any calendar year and must sit behind the front property line. Signs may not be placed in the public right-of-way or obstruct traffic-sign visibility. Inside cities the city code applies.
