In unincorporated Collier County, election and referendum signs need a bulk temporary permit, must show the permit number, and must be removed within 7 days. On residential property they can't exceed 4 square feet or 3 feet in height, and none may be placed in the public right-of-way.
LDC 5.04.06 B.6 requires a bulk temporary permit before erecting election or referendum signs, and the permit number must appear on every sign or its supporting pole. All permitted signs must be removed within 7 days. Signs on residentially zoned property are limited to 4 square feet in area and 3 feet in height; on nonresidential or mixed-use property the limits are 32 square feet and 8 feet. No temporary sign may be placed in a public right-of-way or block the safe visibility of pedestrians and motorists. Cities such as Naples and Marco Island set their own sign rules.
Signs in the right-of-way or without the required bulk permit may be removed by the county, and violations are enforced by Collier County Code Enforcement under the LDC and Florida Statutes Chapter 162.
