Full Breakdown
Under UDC Chapter 16, the City-Parish treats campaign, election and other message signs as temporary signs (Section 16.5.11) and regulates them by size, number and location rather than content. A temporary sign is one not permanently installed in the ground or affixed to a structure. No more than two temporary signs are allowed per lot, each up to six square feet for residential uses in residential districts, and no temporary sign may be illuminated. No permit is required for residential temporary signs. Section 16.3.7 prohibits signs in the public right-of-way or attached to any utility pole, light standard, box, tree or rock on public property. Baker, Zachary and Central apply their own sign rules.
Violations & Fines
Signs exceeding the size or number limit, illuminated, or placed in the right-of-way may be removed by the City-Parish, and the responsible party is subject to UDC sign enforcement.
