Imperial County, CA Sign Regulations: Window Signs (2026)

Imperial County's sign ordinance defines a window sign as any sign applied to, or visible through, a window from the exterior of a building. Rather than capping how much of that glazing a business can cover, the county's list of exempt signs, alongside highway directional signs, utility markers, and vehicle signage, places window display signs entirely outside the sign chapter's permit and design standards. Businesses in the unincorporated county can post window signage without a sign permit, size limit, or design review, though illuminated signs visible from a public street are still treated as regulated signs under a separate special provision.
