Full Breakdown
Under the county sign code, the maximum copy area for a window sign, or all window signs combined, at any establishment is 25 percent of the window area. Letters, numbers, or graphics on a window sign are capped at six inches in height and three inches in width, though that size cap does not apply to a business logo. Because window signage is exempt from the establishment's overall signage-area calculation, it is regulated separately from wall and ground signs.
Violations & Fines
Window displays exceeding 25% of window area or with oversized non-logo lettering violate § 31.5-78 and are subject to code enforcement citation.
