Full Breakdown
Under Sections 8-2001 through 8-2003, the Community Development Department's Building Division maintains a publicly posted checklist for small residential rooftop solar systems of 10 kW AC or 30 kW thermal or less, and must promptly approve or deny complete applications in writing while allowing electronic submittal and signatures. Eligible systems require only one inspection unless found out of compliance or a separate fire safety inspection is needed.
Violations & Fines
Systems found out of compliance with the California Building Standards Codes lose eligibility for the single-inspection process and may require additional inspections before final approval.
