Dulles Town Center Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry Rules (2026)

Unlike some Northern Virginia localities (e.g., Fairfax City), Loudoun County does not operate a centralized no-knock registry. Instead, enforcement flows through two mechanisms. First, Loudoun County Codified Ordinances Chapter 1056 requires commercial solicitors to honor posted 'No Soliciting' signs at each residence — violation is a Class 3 misdemeanor. Second, Virginia Code §18.2-119 (trespass after having been forbidden to do so) makes it a Class 1 misdemeanor to enter property after being told verbally or by clear signage. Most Loudoun HOAs post community-wide 'No Soliciting' signs at entrances to planned communities like Brambleton, Broadlands, Lansdowne, Ashburn Village, and One Loudoun — these signs extend the no-soliciting notice to the entire development, and HOAs coordinate with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office to enforce. Exempt categories remain: religious canvassers, political volunteers, and registered charitable solicitors per First Amendment protections. Residents who wish to report persistent soliciting violations can call the Sheriff's non-emergency line (703-777-1021) or file a complaint with Code Enforcement. Door-to-door sales scams (fake roofing inspectors, aggressive energy-switch pitches) should be reported to the VA Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division.
