Charlotte County, FL Soliciting & Door-to-Door: No-Knock Registry (2026)

Sec. 1-10-78 opens by stating its time limit applies in addition to those limitations already provided by F.S. sections 501.021 through 501.055, meaning a solicitor has to satisfy both the state's home solicitation sale disclosures and this county-only clock. Subsection (a) is the operative rule: no home solicitation sale, as that term is defined under Sec. 1-10-76(a) by reference to F.S. section 501.021, may be permitted between 6:00 p.m. and 9:00 a.m. anywhere in unincorporated Charlotte County. That gives sellers roughly an eleven-hour daily window, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and the restriction runs alongside, not instead of, the home solicitation permit required from the Clerk of the Circuit Court under Sec. 1-10-77.

The section was enacted by Ord. No. 2008-094 on November 25, 2008, which repealed and replaced the entire prior Article III, so any solicitor working from an older understanding of the county's hours is working from repealed text. Because Sec. 1-10-76(a) ties the whole article's coverage to Florida's own definition of a home solicitation sale, the evening-hours limit reaches the same universe of transactions the state regulates: sales made at a buyer's residence away from the seller's regular place of business, subject to whatever exemptions F.S. sections 501.021 through 501.055 already carve out.
