Full Breakdown
Chapter 116 of the county code requires anyone soliciting door-to-door in unincorporated Lake County to register free with the County Clerk, carry the certificate, and solicit only between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Solicitors must watch for a "No Solicitors" sign near the front door and immediately, peacefully leave if one is posted. Ringing the doorbell, knocking, or otherwise signaling for attention at a posted residence to solicit is expressly unlawful, separate from simply being asked to leave once on the property.
Violations & Fines
Soliciting a posted residence or skipping registration violates § 116.02/§ 116.03, punishable under the general penalty at § 116.99; the Lake County Sheriff can also revoke a solicitor's certificate of registration upon conviction.
